This morning marks my 7th day since testing positive for Covid19. I am going to tell you my story and tell you my opinion on this virus and what I think is to come. This is not a political post and I WILL NOT tolerate any political comments or hate comments at all. I do not subscribe to a political party. I follow Jesus Christ and Him alone. My opinions and votes are based on leading from the Holy Spirit and the truth of God's word. I will immediately delete any comment I deem to be argumentative or political. If you wish to discuss with me a difference of opinion, then you can do so privately via email at vibrantfitnessco@gmail.com. Now that we have that out of the way. Here is my story.
On Friday Jan 8, 2021, I woke up feeling yucky. I am pretty sure I had fever. I didn't take my temperature at the time. I am a pretty good judge as to how high my fever is just by how I feel. I have 54 years of experience with it! I immediately went to the primed down the street to get a Covid test. I had to make an appointment for 11AM so I went back then and that is when I got my positive test result. The Dr prescribed 3 medicines for me. Doxycyline, which is an antibiotic (I am allergic to penicillin), something called Ivermectin, and a cough syrup which is a generic brand of Phenergan. I later learned that the Ivermectin has been recently discovered to help with the lungs some kind of way for Covid. It is typically used in dogs to prevent ear mites and heartworms. So, I am clear for those things as well! LOL. He also told me to take Vitamin C, Zinc, and Vitamin D3 which I was already taking daily anyway. So I had my prescriptions filled and went home to hunker down for the next 10 days. The CDC recommends that you wait until 2 criteria have been met before you enter back into society. 1. No fever for at least 24 hours without fever reducers. 2. 10 days from the day you receive your positive test result.
The first day I was definitely sick. I had a low grade fever, congestion, body aches and a head ache, and zero energy. I also had no appetite at all which, for those of you that know me, is absolutely unheard of!! I pretty much layed on the couch all day, I took my meds and supplements and was in the bed by 7:30. I woke up the next morning and was really congested, had a low fever, the body aches and headache were pretty pronounced. I still had smell and taste at this point, and still no cough. I still had no energy and no appetite. I literally moved from the bed to the couch. I made myself drink tons of water and Gatorade, and I made myself eat 3 meals because I knew I had to keep myself hydrated and I needed fuel for my body to fight this virus. And fight we did for the next 4 days. It was the same for the next 4 days. I took Tylenol for fever and aches, and Advil Cold and Sinus, and nasacort for congestion. By day 5 the fever had broken, the aches and headache and congestion had eased up, and I was feeling better. Day 5 is when the cough started and I had partially lost taste and smell. I still didn't have an appetite but my energy level was way better than it was. Day 6 was even better than day 5. I am pretty much on the downhill slide now. The cough is annoying, but not horrible, and I am not having trouble breathing so that is good. I still don't have full taste and smell, but that might take a while. I still don't have an appetite, but I am making myself eat. My energy level is still improving. Yesterday I walked some laps around the backyard and that felt good! I feel like I am improving a little everyday. I am just waiting out the quarantine now.
I have really been paying attention to social media as far as people's experiences with Covid go. And from what I can gather, almost everyone has a different experience. This virus is all over the place. And it is obviously very contagions. I was an avid mask wearer. I rarely go anywhere and I followed all of the rules when it comes to mask wearing and social distancing. And I am in pretty good shape and health, and I still got it. Which leads me to this conclusion. Unless you totally lock yourself away in a bubble for the rest of your life, you are going to be exposed to this, and you need to be ready. I don't care what the powers that be tell you, if you go out of your house, or come in contact with people at all, you are going to be exposed and you will likely get this virus. It is so important that you pay attention to your health now more than ever.
This virus is not going anywhere, and with increased globalization and borders opening up, who knows what is coming next! The vaccine is a good way to try to combat it, but who knows when the people in charge of distributing it will get their act together enough to get it out there to people that need it most. I have seen nothing that gives me hope in that aspect yet. Im not going to wait on those yahoos for anything. They have all proven to be untrustworthy. They are too concerned with finger pointing and blaming each other to actually get anything done. So what can we actually do to fight this virus? I think we can get our bodies as healthy and strong as we possibly can. I think that is our only defense right now.
So how do you go about getting healthy and strong. The way you do that is to start adding fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins to your diet. Get outside and move your body. Go for walks everyday. Take up a sport, something to get you off the couch. Start a strength training program to improve your lean muscle mass, and balance. Stretch your muscles to keep your body flexible and more balanced. Drink lots of water to keep your joints lubricated and your organs functioning propertly. If you aren't getting enough micronutrients through food, then supplement with vitamins and minerals to keep your immune system strong.
You have to have a plan to implement all of this. Without a plan, it is just an idea. Goals are just goals if you don't have a plan in place to achieve those goals it won't happen. That is where a health and wellness Coach like me comes in. I can help you incorporate these things into your life in a way that will help you achieve your goals. I know how to set weekly, monthly and annual goals to get you to where you want to be. I have done it for myself and I have done all the research, and I continue to research new ideas and new things to help women like you to get as healthy and strong as you need to be to enjoy your life, and fight disease! I pray everyday for God to send me women that need help to do this in their lives before they have to fight something like Covid. I truly believe that my body was able to fight Covid because it was in a poition to do just that. I want to help you get to that point too. It is never too late.
I hope this was helpful. I hope I have made you realize how important health is. I hope I have sparked something in you that says, hey, I need to do this. I can't wait to hear from you so we can start this process together!
Be well! Vi
